Tutorial - how to make a clipping mask

Postby ceraralaz » 19 Dec 2019, 15:12

Hello there! Since I have not found an easy way to create clipping button (a simple button) I have figured out how to make it with new layers system

1) For example we have two such layers we want to clip

2) Select an upper layer and make it a mask

3) We have to fill this empty mask window with our bottom layer

Drag a blue dot from our bottom layer and drop it in this empty window

4) It won't work yet, what you have to do is open filter submenu

And select Alpha

Done, we have a proper clipping mask

I hope we could do it by simply pressing "add clipping mask button, developers, plox!

anyone know how to mask multiple layers or a layer stack?.
I was kind of expecting nodal layers to working something like below, where a mask was its own nodal entity, and any layer could be used as a clipping mask if plugged into it. The masked content could then be a layer stack.

It actually works like this, just group layers and use groups summary output to mask. If you want to mask ON the group, just make summary layer. It’s kinda clunky explanation, it needs some brewery and working in field
