Looking For Best Practices for Mastering Black Ink Workflow?

Postby salas00marcelo » 19 Nov 2024, 07:36

Hello everyone,

I have recently started exploring Black Ink and I am blown away by its unique brush customization and real time rendering. However,,, I am finding it a bit challenging to streamline my workflow.., especially when balancing performance with creativity during complex projects.

Here are a few questions I hope the community can help with ::-

Optimal Settings: What are your go to performance tweaks to keep the software running smoothly while working on high resolution artwork: ??
Brush Creation Tips: Any advice on designing custom brushes that feel intuitive and efficient: ??
Layer Management: Do you have any strategies for organizing layers effectively in Black Ink: ??
Export Quality: What are the best practices for exporting artwork without losing details or colors: ??

I have also read this https://forum.bleank.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&cisspt=40 but looking for more tips and advice. I would love to hear how you have optimized your process or any tips you have picked up along the way. Feel free to share tutorials, settings or even examples of your work for inspiration !!

Looking forward to learning from this talented community.

With Regards,
Marcelo Salas

Hello Marcelo,

Here are some answers to your questions:

Optimal Settings: Black Ink runs smoothly for me with the default settings : workspace tutorial.
Regarding document size, it performs well even at high resolutions like 8000x8000 or larger on a standard graphics card. The Brush Preview Panel might slow things down a bit, but it's typically used only when creating brushes.

Brush Creation Tips
: Black Ink offers multiple layers of customization, such as the Controller Editor and the Brush Shader Editor. However, these features are currently undergoing some updates. However, in the Tool Parameters, it’s possible to load controller templates to adjust brush behaviors such as size, gradient, opacity, and more. By browsing our new website, I just realized this aspect hasn’t been properly introduced yet. I’ll make sure to address this soon! :reyes:

Layer Management: Check out this tutorial I made on YouTube (YouTube link). Once you get familiar with the layer system, you'll quickly find your rhythm.

Export Quality: Exporting in JPG or PNG works perfectly fine. Just ensure the color profile in the preferences matches your requirements to avoid discrepancies.

For starting out, you can follow this mini-tutorial on YouTube.

Let me know if you need more details! :yeah:
