Tablet lag on new machine

Postby marije » 11 Sep 2016, 15:02

Hi there,

Sorry to start another topic but I couldn't find a solution for this problem.
I bought a brand new laptop to work with and was stoked to try out Black Ink on this baby.

Sadly there seems to be an extreme delay when drawing. (About 0.5 - 8 cm between the cursor and the pen line).
Re-installing didn't do much, re-installing drivers neither. Disabling Windows 10 software recording things did not help either.
Running in forced DX9 gives me a black screen.

It's strange, because it worked fine on a much older computer with a fairly weak NVIDIA GT.

Don't worry it is certainly due to the stroke smoothing :)
You have just to hold Z
(you can have a look at this thread

Did not know that was a thing...

Let me see if that works. I've never actually even used that.

So I put it to 0% and that did not make a difference.
The line has to catch up to my cursor all the time and this wasn't the case on my older computer.

- If you have a Wacom tablet :
First try to install the latest driver for your Tablet.
Then open Black Ink.
Pen Wacom settings and try to add Black Ink as a application like in this picture
Restart Black Ink and then go to the Main Menu > Windows > Preferences > Stylus to hav this window
Use your stylus and see if graphics are moving.

- If you still have problem uncheck the option "Precise stylus position" in the same window

- If it's a performance problem have a look in the GPU tab of Black Ink and try to select the good Graphic Card output like this :

- If it' still doesn't work Send us your log for further investigations at support@bleank.com

Hi there,

Wow, I just discovered something new. If you resize the preferences window to something bigger than there are options, you get a nice flashing glitchfest from where the window ends.

Anyway, the stylus precision didn't really do anything. The lag isn't as bad as it was before I updated my drivers for NVIDIA (I have an older tablet so staying up to date isn't that hard), but it still persists when I draw lines with more pressure. It follows behind. When I turn on vsync it gets much worse, and the only options I have are these:

Does picking either three make a difference?

hum apparently the delay doesn't come from your tablet but from your GPU performance.
Anyway a 950M should be enough to run Black Ink consistently.
Do you have some energy saving mode on your GPU Driver or laptop ? perhaps it come from that..

PS : And for your question if you have only one screen ( the laptop's one ) don't change this parameter :)

My laptop is always on high performance, even when unplugged. Power saver is just... Not my thing haha.

I actually have no idea what went wrong here. I have everything I need to run this as fast and smooth as possible.
It doesn't feel like stutter, but the line is just lagging behind on the cursor. When I draw something I have to keep the pointer still to make it catch up.

It's not the tablet either, since it works perfectly fine when I'm Photoshopping or something of the sorts.

Just checked, the mouse does the same. It's actually even worse when using the mouse (probably because it's wireless though).

Kind of looks like this. Especially when making thicker and longer lines.
