I found that while brushing I can press "alt" for quick access to the eyedropper tool, which I find really useful. But it'd be alot better if the chosen opacity would stay at the specified level instead of jumping back to 100% after using the eyedropper tool. This would make combining colours on the canvas easier.

Do you change the alpha of the color a lot? Try to use the opacity slider in the shape parameters instead, this will stay after you use the alt shortcut. That makes the brush itself transparent, even when it uses a completely opaque color.
