New Image Size - Can't Make Large Enough Image

Postby vggundar » 27 Dec 2014, 06:09

I tried to set my new document size larger, but I can't seem to exceed "Image Size: 800.00 Mo". I tried it on my main computer that has an EVGA GTX 8800 with 768 MB of physical graphics memory and could only make 8-10 mega-pixel image. I tried it on my other computer that has 2GB of physical memory on an EVGA GT 640 (3GB usable graphics memory) and I could only make a 104 mega-pixel image (10240 x 10240 pixels or 17.066" x 17.066" at 600 dpi). Both computers are running a dual monitor set-up. I can't set the dpi higher than 600 on either computer- is it limited to 600 dpi? I was hopping to make an image (28" x 22" at 1200 dpi)- do I need an impossible amount of physical graphics card memory to accomplish this? I am running the Steam version of Black Ink v0.173.1777 (D3D10).

We have set an arbitrary limitation of 100 Mega pixel size for the Canvas.
Which is enough to handle 600 DPI on a 42x42 cm canvas.
But I will add a +1 request to exceed this limit.

Thanks. FYI- most large format professional printers have native 1200 DPI, some have 2400 DPI. And I intend to have my art printed on various media (canvas, metal, glass), so I appreciate removing this barrier. I have ordered an EVGA GT 740 SC 4GB (native graphics memory) for my main computer now, so this should have enough memory for above 100 MP with ease.

Any chance you could also implement the code for the mouse sliders (used in picture as texture window for X, Y, Rotate, and scale sliders) into the new canvas window as well for consistancy?

And add the ability to upsize the canvas after the image is started (with options of center & 4 corners)?

Sorry- by slider I meant the mouse over of the number box that allows dynamic number changing by moving the mouse in the brush box for picture as source color. Please see the attached pic. Thanks again!
