Crash at runtime

Hi all,
After the latest update Black Ink has stopped working for me (while it did before). I get the following error message:
Runtime Error" "program: C:\progra...

"this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications support team for more information"

Which apparently has occured before for other users. It is a quite brutal crash, since it mucks up Steam or the Explorer as well.
I do not have Log files, since the program does not start.

System:
Fairly recent Windows 8(.1) 64 bit machine. NVidia GTX 760.

Here is what I have tried already:
- Verified cache multiple times (as admin).
- Fresh installs (including manually removing any remaining files after deleting in Steam)
- Starting from .exe (instead of Steam) = same result
- Newest version DirectX is installed

Any suggestions as to what else I can try?

Thank you for the response. I have got it to work again! Although I do not know what exactly did the trick (there was also a windows update today...).

What I did:
- Completely remove all steam config files in main steam directory. So remove all files (NOT folders) in main steam directory EXCEPT steam.exe . I believe the flushconfig command does something similar. Note that this will cause resetting of options, including Steam Guard.
- Run steam again, this will redownload required files.
- Remove all Black Ink files
- Reinstall Black Ink
C'est ça!
