Lag Increase Over Time?

Postby venn177 » 16 Dec 2012, 02:06

For about a minute after I start up BlackInk it's fine, but after that the more I draw, the laggier it gets to the point where I just give up. This happens whether I use my mouse or my Tablet (which is a Wacom, but that's irrelevant, I think).

I know it's not my computer, as my specs are:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 4.0GHz
Crossfire AMD HD 6770 and 5770
8GB DDR3 1600 RAM

It's the only thing that's keeping me from upping from the trial to the full version. Program itself is incredible.

hi venn177,

Strange behavior that you describe o_0
I saw that your CPU is a 6 cores. It's perhaps the source of the problem ( we only have up to 4 cores here ). Can you Disable 2 cores and try to test if possible ?
Anyway it's clearly a problem from our side ( we use multicores so a synchronisation problem perhaps occur with your configuration but i'm not sure of it ).

Can I contact you by email for further instructions to help us find the issue ? ( I already got your email adress so you don't need to put it on the forum ).

Regards

Tried disabling two cores. Still no difference.

Yeah, you're fine to contact me by email.

This may be related (similar effect, different cause most likely). If I zoom all the way out, use a large-size controller-heavy brush, and fill the canvas with strokes then Bi will be "laggy" at different zoom intervals as it draws the strokes. Without making new strokes, if I allow it to draw the entire canvas at each zoom interval it's no longer laggy (once it's imprinted throughout). Rarely this seems to cause a crash, but I haven't confirmed that. This isn't usually a problem for what I do, but others may be using the program differently. :bye:

texviana : have you tested BlackInk without other program running ? ( like photoshop or google Chrome, hangout, etc... ).
Can you describe what's going on with Black Ink, do you paint something like maninmachine suggested ?
And what is your configuration ?
