Can brush pick up the colour of the layer stack?

Postby lumacraft » 22 Sep 2013, 18:06

I am in the midst of evaluating Black Ink, and am nearing completion of my fist painting. My painting has several layers. The bottom layer is a solid background colour. The main painting is the second layer, in normal layer blend mode. The third layer is highlights, in screen blend mode. The top layer is shadows, in multiply blend mode. Now what I would like to do is to add a layer above all of these, where I can use a low opacity brush to pick up the layer stack below, so that I can do some smoothing and blending. Is there a way to do that? Perhaps another way of asking this is, is there a way to set the image-based colour mode to use the current layer stack, rather than an image file?

Thanks,

David

lumacraft : unfortunatly this is not possible for the moment ( If I understand you well :??: ).
The only workaround is to use the Color picker wit the "Alt" shortcut. Thee you will get the current viewed color and use it with your current brush.

You could save your file as a .png (make sure you also have your original file saved) and upload that one to the image-based colour mode.

Thank you both for those workaround suggestions.

u2bleank: Will we see a feature such as I described built into the product before release?

Cheers,

David
