Verifying cache does not fix runtime error

Postby marije » 30 Aug 2016, 14:39

Hi there,

So basically Black Ink has always worked fine for me. Recently I 'upgraded' to windows 10 and had to reinstall my tablet drivers, which was no problem at all. Everything worked perfectly fine.
Sadly, when I opened up Black Ink for the first time in quite a while, I encountered the runtime error we all know and (do not) love. This was the first time it ran on WinX.

I already knew how to 'fix' this kind of thing. Thinking this would actually help as usual, I verified the application cache in Steam. This, however, did not do anything. It gives me the error in any case I try to open the program. In both forced DX9 and the normal version, windowed, full screen, from the desktop, through steam, in the source folder, in compatibility mode (Win 7, which I used to run).
I even reinstalled the entire thing, backing up all the user brushes hoping it would solve anything.
This also did not work.

I have no idea how to work with crash logs or anything so here's the event log for as far as I know:

Faulting application name: BlackInk.exe, version: 0.249.2089.0, time stamp: 0x55e6e528

Is there any way to solve this?

Thanks much in advance.

hi marije,

Sorry for this problem :(
Have you tried to run this tool from Win10 ?
Also have a look on this thread.
Tell me if you still encounter problems.

Hi there,

I already tried the troubleshooter, which did nothing for me.
My tablet itself works fine. I downloaded the most recent drivers, which isn't hard. (It's an old one. Bamboo Pen & Touch).

Are there any other things I could try?

Re-installing vb2015 worked.
Apparently it wasn't even installed. Had to restart the computer about 3 times though because there was a LOT going on with vb on my computer. Whatever it was, it wasn't good.

Thank you for thehelp and the quick response, by the way. <3
