Hi, there

When I use the eraser it doesn't erase but it does paint with transparent black; can you tell me why?
My OS is Windows XP Professional, 32 bits.
PS
Also when I go to edit "Clear" the background becomes transparent black.

I've tested under Win XP and didn't see any problem
When you say :

Do you refer to the grey & black checker ? visible on this picture :


If yes it's normal now because it's the default "Empty" color as stated here
If you want to preserve your white background for example. Just add a new layer and draw in it.

Thanks for the quick reply; You are right, it was my mistake, I was using the background only!
Everything is OK when using another layer on top of the background.
