Saving for the first time....

Postby clayton » 08 Apr 2013, 21:56

Hello,

I am currently running the current version of Black Ink with an nVidia Geforce GT 9600 graphics card.

I create a new document 4800x3000 and zoom right out. I then paint a colour using the calligraphic pen (to fill) the canvas.

When I save this document, I receive the save dialog (confirming the save) and it takes 6 minutes !

However, after that it can only take about 5-8 seconds to save the document and does not matter whatever or how many changes I make.

It's just the first time.

Also, when I close Black Ink and re-open the document and re-save, this takes about 5-8 seconds as well.

Any ideas ???

Clayton

PS: Loving this program by the way ! :D

Hi,

Just a quick update, I am performing some more tests and this time I did exactly the same steps as in the previous post, but this time for a document 8000x5000. It took 15 minutes to do the save !

File Size: 162kb.

I then re-saved the document as a different filename and it took under 3 seconds to save !!!

The file size for this is 162kb.

EDIT: Zoomed right out and selected dots default. Filled the canvas a couple of times and then resaved as a different document. Took 8 minutes to save, file size is 2.82 MB.

Clayton,

Thanks for sharing with us your experience.
This is a major issue but we have rewrote the whole Canvas rendering engine to avoid this kind of bad behavior.
Stay tuned because a new release is coming soon ;)
