Steam version still running after closing the program

Hi, I've been using Black Ink for some time now and I'm loving it, but I keep encountering this bug where the Steam version of the program stays running in the background even after I've closed it. I can't seem to find from task manager what process could be causing this and I can't close Steam to shut it down. Steam tells me to close Black Ink first. Usually I just result to clicking 'shut down' on my Windows and then cancelling it, since that will shut down most processes.

I just tested and for some reason the program closes normally when I have a blank project, but when I'm working on my main project, which is saved into Dropbox, the bug happens

I think Black Ink closes if I end the Steam.exe through task manager, if that's any help. At least after doing that, when I restart Steam, Black Ink isn't running according to Steam.
